About the Company:

Unidex Healthcare are a privately owned recruitment company established in 2001 and operate across Australia, with our main offices in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the healthcare field specialising in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.

The Role:
Our participant is a middle aged male requiring 24/7 support suffered from a spinal cord injury and a hypoxic brain injury due to a near drowning experience. He enjoys spending time at the beach and with his dog, and has an interest in surfing and mountain hiking.

Requirements:

Due the complexity of the participant, successful candidates must have experience with bowel therapy, catheter management and hoisting OR be willing to learn these skills.


Roster:

The current care plan covers a 24/7 roster, the current shift times requiring covering are:

Monday-Sunday Available: 4PM-10AM the next morning

The 4PM-10AM shift includes 4:00PM-10:00PM (active)+ 10:00PM-06:00AM (in-active sleepover) + 06:00AM-10:00AM (active)

The above listed shift is one whole shift and cannot be seperated.

Pay rates are:

  • Day - $40.00 p/h
  • Afternoon - $44.00 p/h
  • Sat - $56.00 p/h
  • Sun - $72.00 p/h
  • Sleepover Allowance - $145.49 fixed rate

Duties:

  • Personal care; washing, drying, dressing & grooming
  • Assistance to care for his dog
  • Assistance with bowel therapy (Peristeen - training will be provided)
  • Hoisting/transfers
  • Daily skin checks
  • Pressure wound management
  • Assistance with domestic tasks including cleaning, meal preparation & feeding
  • Assistance with daily Health & Rehab exercises
  • Community access + rehab appointments

Skills & Experiences:

  • Experience with spinal cord injuries is a MUST
  • Experience with catheter management
  • Bowel therapy (Peristeen - training will be provided)
  • Pressure injuries & wound management
  • Hoist / transfers
  • Australian Driver License is a MUST
  • Confidence to drive wheelchair accessible van (desired)
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module and Supporting Effective Communication Module
  • Medication Administration Training (must)
  • Advanced Bowel Management - Peristeen Training (must)
  • Reliability with a proactive and positive attitude is very important to the participant
